Why Are Wear - Resistant Tires Not Recommended for Family Cars?

Date:11-12-2024    See:103

Many people think that the more wear - resistant a tire is, the better. But in fact, this statement is wrong. Especially for family cars, it is not recommended to buy highly wear - resistant tires. The main reasons are as follows:

  1. Reduced handling performance: There is a contradiction between the wear - resistance and handling performance of tires, and you can't have both. Highly wear - resistant tires usually have higher hardness, which may lead to weaker grip and thus reduce the vehicle's handling performance. For family cars, the quality of handling directly affects driving comfort and safety.

  2. Poor comfort and noise - reduction effect: The tread of wear - resistant tires is relatively hard, which will cause more noise during driving and reduce riding comfort. For family car owners who pursue a comfortable driving and riding experience, this may be unacceptable.

  3. Tire aging problem: Family cars usually have a relatively low annual mileage, generally more than 10,000 kilometers. If highly wear - resistant tires are used, the tread pattern of the tires will most likely still be very new after 4 - 5 years, but the tires may have already aged severely and need to be replaced. In this way, the service life of the tires cannot be fully utilized, resulting in waste. From this point of view, for family cars, it is not recommended to buy highly wear - resistant tires. It is recommended to give priority to tires with low rolling resistance for fuel saving, high comfort, good handling performance, and strong noise - reduction effect.

Of course, when choosing tires, various factors such as the handling performance, comfort, noise - reduction effect, and service life of the tires should be considered comprehensively to choose a satisfactory tire.
